Jazz Audition Page
Note: Auditions are only for Jazz I. Jazz II does not require an audition*
Auditions for 2024-25 will be Monday, May 20th (2:00 for HS students, 2:30 MS students. *Note: Due to the large amount of drum set interest, drum set player numbers will have a cap of 2-3 students per group). Audition will consist of:
1. “Stellar” Prepared Piece mm. 1-17 (see below)
2. “Doo-Dots” from the 10-Minute Jazz Warmup (see below)
3a. Major Scales (selected by Mr. Tenore) in a swing style (Winds/Guitar/Piano/Bass)
3b. Style/Feel Test (Drums Only). Drummer will execute some of the following styles: Swing, Bossa Nova, Funk, Cha-cha, Rock, Zydeco, etc.
4. Sight Reading

Winds(& Guitar, Piano) - Bass - Drums
Audio Files (Backing Tracks)
II. Doo-Dots (For the audition, please read the 1st part of your instrument (1st trumpet, 1st alto, etc.)
